The emerging singer-songwriter takes listeners on an introspective and vulnerable journey with his highly anticipated debut album.
Wales-born and Liverpool-based Samuel Evanson has recently emerged as a vibrant new addition to the indie-pop scene. From his first taste of virality in 2016 due to a Facebook-posted cover, to live performances on BBC One, a recent venture into television has reignited his creative spark. With this renewed energy comes “We Are Meant To Break The Rules”, an inspired and heartfelt debut album that sets a new stage for the rising star.
Across the seven-track project, Evanson draws listeners into an emotive, captivating atmosphere balanced with dynamic production, poignant lyricism, and expansive vocals. The opening track, “She Was Blind”, bursts with sharp guitar strings and catchy wordplay, while the atmospheric “Jade Green” ebbs and flows with foot-tapping instrumentals and relentless percussion.
Samuel Evanson’s indie-pop project showcases his unique ability to blend introspective lyrics with engaging melodies, creating a fresh sound in the genre. His distinct style and innovative approach have garnered much anticipation for his next release as the singer-songwriter looks set to make 2024 his own.
Talking on the narrative themes for the project, Evanson shares “For some of the album I talk about the worst times of my life and for some, I talk about the best. Even looking back at the worst times, it made me who I am and I wouldn’t change a thing.”
